Yellow and black baby shower cake

This baby shower cake was so precious *grin* I was asked to do a slimmed down version of a 5 tier cake that was found online. I have to say the yellow and black is so sharp. I loved how it all came together! Bottom cake was marble filled with fresh strawberries. Middle, carrot cake with cream cheese filling. And the top...red velvet, cream cheese filling! Yummy!
Damask stenciling in royal icing, and handmade letter "A" monogram.

The very same day I delivered this cake we left on to Las Vegas on vacation! And if you know me.... you know I LOVE desserts =)) So I looked up a couple of places, and convinced the hubby....even though he's "not that into desserts".... On this we are surely on different planets lol. SO we went to Jean Phillipe at located at the Aria hotel. Top left is a Snickers cake, top right, raspberry rose macaroon filled with pastry cream. And the hubby got a fruit tart, "best he's ever had!"...... SUCCESS!!
Kiddo and I giddy for sweets =)

Next stop was Max Brenner.....chocolate by a bald man. Located in the Forum shops at Cesar's palace. Let me tell you....it smelled Devinne!! And my blended chocolate frappe was like drinking a chocolate bar!  Mmmm
 Yummm!

And just in case I needed a reminder!!!!

Cake cake cake!!

Wedding cake!
I did this wedding cake last weekend for my childhood friend. Wedding cakes are always a Lil extra special, but this one meant so much to me! Her colors were champagne, and these purples and pinks. It was a simple cake with pearl non perils, painted with champagne luster dust. The florist provided the flowers. And I must say.....it was delicious!! Bottom cake was lemon with raspberry filling. The middle and top were triple espresso chocolate cake with cream cheese filling. Yumm!

Birthday cake for the girliest girl I know!
Handmade fondant make-up, and white chocolate cupcake liners (yeah I went there!) And they were so stinkin' cute!!
Happy 23rd birthday Bro! (wink* wink*)hahaha

These mini cupcakes were for our 2ft diva of the house turning 3! She is my biggest fan....( I think its just her LOVE of sweets though! ha!) She loves all things sweet, cupcakes, frosting, and her favorite....fondant! Shes a girl after my own heart! *grin*

And finally some simple....but delicious cupcakes!! They got Elmo toppers at the party! Espresso chocolate, fresh strawberry, and Madagascar vanilla!!

SUPERBOWL!!!
Now, I have to admit I don't watch  sports!! Really my family was just never into football.....or any other sport for that matter, what can I say, we are more of an artsy fam I guess =) SO this year thanks to my lovely friend I paid attention to who was going to the BIG game. (mainly to see what colors I was gonna work with) lol. But hey I watched! WE did watch this years super bowl, with friends over and everything..... even if it was a cake consultation by default! It counts.....and I must say I loved it, what a game! So thank you Amy.... Hope you enjoyed the cupcakes =)

Cake cookies for the bff!! I just couldn't resist making these for my oldest and dearest friends birthday! Happy birthday Jamie Joy!!

Ahhh and then there was Valentines day..... I must say, I almost skipped it this year *gasp* I know! But.....I couldn't bring myself to do it =) Soooo I did some love scrabble cookies, and Hearts for my daughters 3rd grade class, personalized with each child's name =)

Baby shower cake!!
I always love doing something just a Lil different. This baby shower cake was just that! a slight Moroccan theme, with a touch of elephants, with the colors light/dark pink, light/dark grey, yellow and brown. I absolutely LOVE this cake! It was all frosting with fondant accents, pressed in paisley prints, dusted with luster dust! My crappy pictures really don't do it justice..... it was beautiful!!

Both tiers were vanilla cake, top cake with pineapple coconut, bottom was banana creme... Yummy!

How fun was this cake to make! And a  big +plus+ NO FONDANT!!! I was asked to duplicate a train cake that was found online, with a few twist of my own style=) The top cake is vanilla with pineapple coconut filling, on bottom vanilla cake w/banana filling......and covered in coconut!!... my favorite part *grin*. This train cake was for a precious little girl turning 1! The party was held at a train museum, inside a restored train....how cute is that! These pics don't do it justice, with disco dust sprinkled delicately on top of the coconut... I just loved how soft and fluffy it turned out =)

How'd you arrive at that number???

"WOW!!! How come it cost that much......it's just cake!?"
I came across this beautifully worded article and thought I would share. Now I have some wonderful friends/clients who know I try and give the best pricing possible!! Most of the time.....more than I should. BUT there is always the "few" that don't think cake is quite worth "that' price. At times a little discouraging because of the amount of time and supplies it takes just to make the raw cake and icing.....let alone hand molded gum paste works of art!!

There is so much more that goes into this edible form of art than just flour and icing...... hours of back breaking work (just ask the hubby hehehe) and lots of love!

Hope you enjoy Stacey's blog post as much as I did :)
